I confess….

I confess…I once sat in a confessional- on the priest’s side. I hope the new pope understands because i really was only wanting to see…

…if I could fit. Man, what a tight spot. No room to hang your jacket in there. The wood smells catholic too. Not sure what they wash it with, or wax it with, but that smell seems to pervade everything.

It’s not like a hearse or the smell of a funeral home, but it does have some sort of “mature” smell. Not frankencense, but kind of heading toward that direction. Maybe…frankencense meets Pine Sol meets seriously fastidious…something or other. Maybe old wood shavings…truly mysterious…

….like all good Catholic churches should feel like. Mystery. Protestants could learn something there…there is something to be said about the aroma of a church. If it doesn’t smell holy, maybe it is time to dump some anointing oil into the carpet, or at least use the stuff.

But maybe it is the candle scent in the church. If so, they should sell the fragrance as “Mysterious,” or some like name. But I digress…

…and should be congratulating the pope. I already like this pope. He wears glasses, so he is obviously human. He likes taking the bus instead of that popemobile (which Father Guido Sarducci- SNL- one of my favorite actor “priests” used to talk about jokingly). You know, this is a guy I could like. As long as he doesn’t get upset for the one time I slipped into the priest’s….
