while in the process of transacting business today, i came across an astonishing statement:
an electronic signature is the same as a wet signature
which is really rather confusing, since I usually sign documents while inside buildings- out of the rain, snow, and other liquid environments. i can imagine those guys that spear fish for a living deep underwater, signing documents on their fishing vessels with dripping wet hands, and therefore, producing “wet signatures.” if they dream of these signature ceremonies, i suppose they qualify for wet dreams…although a man or woman in a wetsuit often has wet dreams that come to life, often near a shark or other worthy stimuli. but, i am not a wetsuited writer, which does not qualify me to be an authority on wet signatures while sailing the rough blue-green sea…
so what is a wet signature?
is it a wet kiss on a piece of white paper? or, is it a pen busted open on a page?
and is there a place for a “wet signature” in an era of electronic signatures?
i do not know…but i will keep a glass of water near my office desk just in case i need to produce one. after all, one never knows what to expect in a world gone linguistically wild…
