I know nothing about polymers. Nothing. If I drove by a polymer on my way to work, I’d fail to recognize whether it existed in a solid, a liquid, or a gas. I wouldn’t even recognize its personality. To say I am naive about polymers is like saying Pluto is a long way away- and that goes for the planet too.
But, let’s suppose- and now you must be philosophical- that I were a cryosynetic cosmological engineer, with ten years field experience, and at least one PHD behind my name…and, I stated on twitter that I had discovered a way to transport polymers into a black hole, and then…re-create them as fluffy golden retrievers, why, you might just doubt me. Then again, you are entitled to your opinion, but remember I have a PHD…
But, you might also believe me. Indeed, you might fall for the old soviet-styled propaganda (mirrored by the slightly more sophisticated American 50’s and 60’s era poopaganda) that sought to convince you that (1) math is your friend (2) science is your friend…and…(3) polymers are your friends. This, of course, could predispose you toward a certain career interest, however, it might also suggest that you are highly gullible. It might even suggest that you actually believe that Sputnik did not exist, that lemurs went into space, and that the moon landing was staged inside Universal Studios. It might also suggest your name is Jones- Alex Jones…shaken, not stirred.
Still, if you are a droneophobe, it does not mean that you are somehow related in your mental acuity to Mister Jones. You might have some very legitimate arguments, although we can’t delve into those here. What we can say, however, is that the drone is not your friend, and that the American government does operate some mighty suspicious vehicular traffic above citizens and non-citizens on a daily basis. It does also suggest that polymers are not drones and therefore may be more user-friendly, although we cannot assume there is a new 2.0 version.
But all this has made me consider just how important polymers are. And maybe, indirectly, they do make us happy- even Mchappy. I cannot say this for sure, since my knowledge of polymers is significantly less than my knowledge of polynomials. Then again, I think I am a mononomial, but I haven’t totally committed myself on that position yet.
